Wimbledon
Wimbledon is one of the most famous tennis competitions ever. The unique thing about Wimbledon is all the players have to wear white,you can even get disqualified if you don't wear white.
Many people wonder why these players have to wear white, including me. The reason is in the 1800's they thought in was inappropriate to see sweat stains on colored clothes. Therefore they felt that it was more appropriate to wear white clothes.
Lots of famous athletes have played in Wimbledon, two of them are the Williams sisters. For many tennis players it is a goal to make it to Wimbledon to watch or to compete. This is one of my dreams all though I doubt that I will compete there but I would love to go watch.

ReplyDeleteGreat information! I always wondered why they wore white??? Now I know. Would you rather play on the grass surfaces of Wimbledon, the clay surfaces of the French Open, or the hard surfaces of the U.S Open? Also, don't count out your dream of playing in Wimbledon someday. You never know =). Just keep doing your best and have fun in the process. I do hope you get the chance to make it there as a player or as a fan at some point in your life.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think I would like to try clay surfaces in the French open because I think it would be cool to play were all the "greats" have played and of clay surface.
